Just curious if anyone ever fishes for Muskies with spoons?
I've been watching Musky Hunter and alike shows for some time now and never have I ever seen them mention using a spoon.
I've never tried for Musky but can't imagine their tastes in lures are that much different than Pike.
And whats with that Tom Sullivan guy?Every other fish is 50"++
Looks like the same lake and pretty much same spot every time...you know the one with the gentle rolling hills in the background. |

Muskies get taken on spoons too.....depends on where and when you are using them. Many spoons do not like fast retrieves and end up bouncing on top of the water too.. Muskyhunter and certain muskie"celebs" will plug the baits of their sponsors. You see Jim Saric throwing alot of salmos on the show _________________ ...the thrill is in the catching not the keeping....

What they don't want you to see...all those big fish are actually being caught on an $8 Five of Diamonds. |

TV fishing shows are just that; shows.
I talked with Babe Winkleman at a Winnipeg boat show and complemented him on how many fish he caught. He replied that they often fish for days to make a 30 minute show.
We were fishing at Bruyere Point on the Winnipeg River. A certain owner of a large fishing tackle company with the initials TT was filming a TV show. He caught one large walleye.
They filmed that fish from every angle, put it back in the water and filmed it again.
We laugh when we share his comment: "Winnipeg River, 12 pounders, one after another".
Right, one 12 pounder filmed many times.
And remember the other "hint" from TT: "If you're not on the bottom, you're not catching walleyes". Wow, how insightful. |
